ARTS ON THE AVE
You may have noticed that the new sculptures are placed along Commercial Avenue. This is the second round of the Loaned Outdoor Sculptures. The sculptures are on loan to the City of Anacortes for a period of one year. There are a total of twelve pieces placed by various northwest artists - all along Commercial Avenue and all of the artwork is for sale. Look for the sculptures between 34th Street and 6th Street. If you have any questions about any of the art or the artists, or if you would like to purchase a sculpture, please call the Anacortes Parks Department at 360-293-1918. Below are pictures and the prices of the artwork. Once available, a map showing exact locations will be posted. The Anacortes Arts Commission would like to thank artist Marius Hibbard for the images below.

Artwork Planned for Commercial Avenue/Highway 20 Roundabout
Merrilee Moore’s sculpture, “Aerie” was chose last November through a jury process facilitated by the Anacortes Arts Commission. The artwork is made from stainless steel, 18 feet tall and at a total cost, including acquisition and installation, estimated to be between $30,000 and $35,000. Plans to move forward were delayed secondary to obtaining permission from the Washington State Department of Transportation. The piece has since been approved on the condition that the city provide an engineering report that shows how the piece will be safely mounted. Fundraising efforts will be targeted to secure an estimated $16,000 and will be done by the Anacortes Arts Commission. *****UPDATE*****Donations are currently being sought for the additional funding needed. If you would like to contribute, please make your check payable to: Anacortes Parks Foundation, P.O. Box 1902, Anacortes, WA 98221 - The Sculpture for the Roundabout will be made possible by grants from the Anacortes Arts Festival ($10,000), the City of Anacortes ($10,000) and YOUR CHARITABLE DONATION. Please contribute what you can to this community effort to bring a unique entrance to Anacortes. THE ANACORTES ARTS COMMISSION THANKS YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE ARTS!

A new publication of Anacortes Public Art
The Arts Commission has recently released a new "Arts in Anacortes" publication. It includes photos and a map of all of the public artwork on Fidalgo Island, and a listing of arts organizations that serve our community. This full color booklet was funded through the city lodging funds grant and is available at the Chamber Visitors Center or Parks & Recreation office at City Hall. Between all the work noted in the publication, there are over 300 pieces of public art on Fidalgo Island. The booklet can be viewed online through the Public Art Gallery tab.
